As part of the complex copper pipe remediation project, the project required creating a temporary decant ward on Level 4 roof of Wellington Regional Hospital, which will see 12 additional beds provided.
Due to the location and the delivery timeframe, it was identified that this project will need to be a prefab (off-site construction).
As part of a wider consultant team, we needed to design and collaborate with the construction team using a Fast-track Process to start their procurement process.
The design of this project was dependent on many different components, ranging from logistics / transportation, design, buildability, supply and availability of products through to installation.
The design team worked and delivered the project using BIM 360, where main sub-contractors modelled and coordinated services while design was developed.
The project also included modification of existing NICU admin space where a link corridor was created to access the decant ward.
